Calogrenant - Week 43

A note on some of the above proceedings: Depilation was usually not practiced in Western Europe during the medieval period, but let us say, for the sake of the suspension of disbelief, that Guenevere had learned of the practice from wives of Levantine merchants at the court of her father Leodegrance who were there in Cameliard, his region of Cornwall,  to negotiate for copper and tin. Work with me.

  1. Thanks for pointing out the depilation issue. To be honest, I wouldn't have picked up on the 'slather rip' otherwise.

BTW, in the first picture, Cally looks a little like Big Bird! LOL!

  2. Same here,Zoë. Waxing, that is, not Big Bird. ;) I was wondering about the "Dust" in the 2nd frame, and enjoying "Adorn" and "Snip, Clip, Curl" in different fonts and colors. I'm quite happy suspending disbelief, but googled out of curiosity & found 2 sites that say Egyptians & Ancient Greeks practiced waxing or "sugaring." So traveling merchants would very likely know of it. :) BTW --Calogrenant is gorgeous when they're finished!

  4. I have finally got internet access in the medieval oak beamed attic where I am staying in Poitiers within a hundred yards of the cathedral which looks just like the background of the final panel. This all feels like it could have happened right here!
